Clyde experiences distinct seasons that shape its landscapes and outdoor activities.
Summer (December to February) brings warm, dry days with temperatures often reaching into the high 20s to low 30s°C, perfect for swimming, picnicking by the Clutha River, or cycling along the Otago Central Rail Trail. Summer in Clyde also sees the town come alive with local bands playing on Sundays, and nearby vineyards welcome visitors for tastings under clear blue skies.
Autumn (March to May) is a spectacular season, with the region's poplars and willows turning golden-yellow and orange, creating a stunning backdrop for hiking or visiting historic sites like the Clyde Dam and gold mining relics.
Winter (June to August) can be cold, with temperatures dropping as low as 0°C, and occasional frosts covering the landscape in a silvery sheen. This is a cozy time to visit Clyde’s cafes and wineries, and it's an ideal base for skiing enthusiasts, as the township is within driving distance of Queenstown and Wanaka ski fields.
Spring (September to November) brings mild temperatures and blossoms, as orchards and gardens burst into colour. This is an excellent season for exploring the nearby vineyards, walking trails like the Clyde Lookout, and enjoying the peaceful resurgence of greenery around the town.
Clyde’s varied weather and seasonal activities make it a captivating destination year-round, with each season offering its own unique beauty and charm.




Getting Around
The Intercity Bus comes through Clyde twice a day on it's run between Queenstown and Dunedin. For taxi services, please reach out to Shuttle + Alexandra or ask any of the Bike Companies for their shuttle timetable through to Queenstown, Cromwell, Alexandra, Ranfurly, Roxburgh, Lawrence and Dunedin.

Dunstan Hospital
Dunstan Hospital is a busy, 32 bed facility who provides a broad range of secondary/community health services to around 26,500 people living in the Central Otago and Wanaka regions.
They provide acute inpatient care, including a 3 bed high dependency unit, rehabilitation and palliative care for people throughout the age spectrum.

Education

Clyde Primary School has a roll of 150 - 170 students, from Year 1 to Year 8 Students. There is a strong sense of community and the supportive environment makes it an awesome place to learn and grow.
Clyde Playcentre is a whānau focused, mixed age, early childhood education centre which has been a wonderful part of the community here for over 50 years.
Sports Fields
Clyde features well-maintained courses and sportsgrounds with fields for rugby, soccer, and cricket, alongside tennis courts and scenic walking paths. These facilities host community events and enhance the town's vibrant outdoor recreation scene, making them popular with locals and visitors alike.
