Clyde Wine & Food Festival

The Annual Clyde Wine & Food Harvest Festival

Held on Easter Sunday each year in the main street of Clyde in Central Otago. Clyde is one of New Zealand’s historic towns dating from the 1862 Dunstan gold rush. The festival celebrates wines made in Central Otago, one of the most southerly wine producing region in the world.

Lake Dunstan Marathon

42.2km from Historic Clyde to the Cromwell Heritage Precinct via the stunning Lake Dunstan Cycling and Walking Trail. Held first weekend of September, this trail is a well groomed, firm packed, cycle trail surface. About 800m of combined elevation over the 42.2km course.

Alexandra Basin Winegrowers New Release Tasting

Come to the Clyde Railway Station Reserve for an afternoon filled with delicious wines and great company. This event is the perfect opportunity to sample the latest releases from our talented winegrowers. This year some of our vineyards will be showcasing wines previously released to allow you, our guests, to appreciate how the wines within the Alexandra basin are maturing.

Clyde Dam Tours

The Clyde Dam, New Zealand's third-largest hydroelectric dam, is built on the Clutha River / Mata-Au near the town of Clyde. Clutha River Cruises

Our Heritage Cruise offers a unique opportunity to explore these isolated reaches of the mighty Clutha River and view some of New Zealand’s best examples of European and Chinese Gold mining. Relax on the superbly appointed cruise boat and gently drift down stream with the skipper spinning yarns of years gone by. Starting with the discovery of Gold in New Zealand, all the way through to gold mining during the depression, the skipper brings to life tales of endeavour and hardship.

Come and join us for a wonderful afternoon or evening, enjoying a good movie on a comfortable chair!

Tucked behind Bike it Now and Paulina's, the Clyde Cinema is found at 6a Naylor Street. Playing new releases, indie films, and crowd classics, the Clyde Cinema offers the perfect activity for the family, especially on a rainy day!

Lake Dunstan Explorer

The Lake Dunstan Explorer will immerse you in the absolute scenic beauty of the lake and surroundings as you get a close-up view of the trail you are about to ride.

The thrill of a fast boat ride coupled with a commentary pointing out the trail features and endless photo opportunities will be something to cherish with your friends and family later.

Alexandra is surrounded by incredible mountain ranges and dramatic landscapes waiting to be explored, and Central Otago Safaris is here to take you there!

 

Offering back country scenic tours, photography tours and even high country biking, Central Otago Safaris & Tours are where memories are made while sipping billy tea!

Promote Dunstan is a small group of volunteers promoting the area from Earnscleugh and Clyde to the Manuherikia Valley. Within the group’s area of interest are three of the most authentically preserved and significant gold rush settlements in New Zealand – Ophir, St Bathans and Clyde. It is a non-profit incorporated society with members developing and encouraging various activities and events which promote the area to the benefit of residents, businesses, and visitors.​
